New Trend in Bouquets

There is a new trend emerging in the U.S for more natural and organic styled bouquets, different from the normal structured posy or trailing bouquet. Using lots of different shapes and sizes of flowers and foliage these bouquets are earthy and fresh, as though you've just picked them from the garden and they've happened to fall into a stunning arrangement in your hands. I especially like the idea of including Australian natives in these kind of bouquets as the style suits them very well. If you don't want something that looks too "Australian bush" then only use native foliages and filler flowers leaving the focal flowers to the more romantic and soft types.

New Collette Dinnigan Bridal for 2009

Finally new bridal gowns from Collette Dinnigan!!!! I am always asked about Collette Dinnigan and I know these will be a welcome viewing for all fans of her exquisite designs. This season, the collection is a lot sleeker, with jewelled touches and asymmetrical lines. The focus is on the bodice and neckline, leaving the skirt to fall naturally in a simple and understated way. Click {here} to go to the website and view the entire collection.

Jayson Brundson Dresses

Ideas for your bridesmaids dresses? Look no further than Jayson Brundson... Kristy Hinze didn't! Her bridesmaids dresses, all in differing, subdued fruity hues, were designed by Jayson Brundson himself (the two have been friends since the early days of Kristy Hinzes modelling career who by the way just happens to be from the Gold Coast). I'd be extremley tempted to use these gowns as bridal gowns, since the collection is mostly in white and gold. You can purchase these online {here} or for stockists see below.

These are on sale!

NRA Fashion Award Winners

Modeling the winner at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre
I recorded the show last night and watched it this afternoon (which worked out well because it meant I could fast forward through all the ads). Brad Webb, one of my favourite local bridal designers who does exquisite couture (you can see some of his beautiful creations in the latest edition of "Discerning Bride"), from Darb Bridal Couture took away the Supreme Award for his entry entitled "Fabienne". The gown was inspired by 1950's Dior and featured french lace, silk tulle and ribbon. To top it off the waistline was wrapped with an oversized bow. His other stunning dress made me think of a bouquet of packed together carnations, it was a typical princess gown style but with major ruffles. Both gowns were fantastic but I definately agree with the judges, the "Fabienne" was unique and just beautiful.

Lisa Brown's gown featured a hood and backless design. Strictly Bridal's entry had a sheer organza coat and was adorned with swaroski crystals. Brides Desire by Airs and Graces had a laced-back, vintage style gown with lots of beading and ruffles.

My other favourites were the "designers of excellence" previous award winners at the beginning of the show. The white dress in the Collette Dinnigan collection and the white dress in the Carla Zampatti collection were just breath taking and would make amazing bridal gowns.

Not forgetting the men, the male host was dressed by Elio Moda. See another post about Elio Moda here.

Forever New's grey silk dress would make the perfect bridesmaids dress, it's affordable (at only $169.95AUD) and best yet it's in stores now!

You can't go past the convenience factor of being shown the latest designs from the best designers in Queensland in the comfort of your own home. Now that's what I call window shopping!
